Synthesia is a vast multinational corporation based in Cathay which has vast interests in the fields of cosmetics, food products, bio-engineering, and (secretly) bio-weapons. It's slow evolution from several Filipono, Malaysian and Chinese food conglomerates accelerated during the War when food prices rose astronomically and the New Mutation threatened famine across the region. After China's defeat, the American government took control of Synthesia to distribute food, vaccines and counter-agents across Asia. Synthesia's cooperation was rewarded with large subsidies, secure access to the American market and a steady flow of research contracts. The Pentagon has been using Synthesia as a bioweapons laboratory for several years now in an effort to wipe out insurgency movements in the dense jungles of South-East Asia, and as a cover against suspicious Medical Collegium inspectors.

Synthesia's special resources include a large paramilitary army/militia that defends its plantations across Asia and Latin America, a potent special weapons divisions which test-runs a variety of gruesome macroparasites in Borneo and Sumatra, and a notoriously-ruthless biosafety decon team codenamed 'Extra' which neutralizes any biological threat.

Synthesia has access to five limited tactical nuclear weapons for emergency site-decontamination, as well as one voting right on the Security Council.
